I am having a problem with Windows XP. I have tried setting up an Epson C41SX
printer. I tried getting using the CD to update the drivers, but I got a
message that stated "the file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and
Microsoft Windows applications". I tried downloading the driver from the
internet-same result. Now, I tried to load the "a Bugs Life" computer game
for kids, and the same message came up. What is the problem? Could you please
respond by email.

It would help if you told us what file the error message was refering to.

See if these help:

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit
Windows-based program
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=324767

Also can be caused by a Trojan installing a file windupdater.exe and
creating registry entries for that file.

AVAST (free antivirus software) can be the cause if SP2 is installed:

You can put back the standard version of autoexec.nt by copying a backup
copy held in windows\repair to windows\system32.

Dennis;
Since this is a Windows Update newsgroup, you should take this to a Windows
XP newsgroup:
