I know I've seen this question asked on this board, but I can't seem to find
a solution for my problem...
Here's what I've done so far:
1) I have turned on the Removable Storage Management feature.
2) Downloaded the NtBackupRestore_x86.msi file for Vista (32bit)
3) Reboot
4) Goto Back up Status and Congif --->restore files --->advanced restore
5)Files from a backup made on a different computer---> shared folder on the
network
6) browse and highlight folder that backup file is located (but it won't
let me see the actual file)
7) Click next and receive the following message: "Windows was not able to
find any backup sets on (location of file). Please select a different
location.

I have tried to take the file out of the folder, but when I browse, it
doesn't see the individual file. I have tried to type the file name and
extention after the file location. I have tried to move the file from its
current location to my laptop (the vista computer), and nothing is working.

Am I missing a step?!?
Thanks in advance!
Katie

Katie

I think you're opening the wrong application to attempt the restore.

The NTBackup utility to use is in a folder on Start Menu / All Programs
and from the 'Backup Status and Config' you've mentioned it sounds like
you're trying to do the restore using 'Backup and Restore Centre' which
is for Vista-created backups.
