How are you performing the search? Vista SP1 removed all right click
and start search functions (this Search is not the same as the Start
"Search Bar")
Context menu for start/files/folders/drives can be restored:
To restore the context menu, rename or delete the "LegacyDisable" value
under the following registry keys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\find
HKCR\CompressedFolder\shell\find
HKCR\Drive\shell\find
Advanced Search in Vista opens a search Windows like this:
