File Sharing with Vista 64bit is REALLY SLOW!

I'm seeing thousands and thousands of packets over the course of
minute or two whenever I try to browse a file share. Most of the packet
are Trans2 Request or Read AndX Request packets. Based on the changin
locations each time, it looks like Windows Explorer is spidering th
entire network share. This would make sense if Vista 64bit could INDEX
but apparently File Sharing Indexing DOES NOT WORK on 64bit Vista OSs
or so I've read

Is there any way to resolve this? Or else prevent Vista from attemptin
to spider (and not cache/index) my very large network shares?!?!

Thanks
