Must be something else as the client has 2gb ddr2 and its core2duo, pretty
fast computer.

Server versions bias towards server services and workstations bias towards
foreground applications. Besides the many other differences in caching,
buffering, and tasking.

in addition to what kj said
does the PC have a Dedicated RAID card with a processor and Memory to handle
and control I/O?
A servers goal is to handle I/O a PC I/0 is second
That is why a lot of people put Two Drives as RAID 0 on PC's if they need
fast I/0

This is also why you hear all of us with the Mantra
(A PC is not a Server and a Server is not a PC, cross dressing is not
permitted )

So yes there is a difference

Agreeing with all who have gone before and adding to the mix of variables
the possiblility of an AV realtime scan as each folder/file is opened on
the PC, and maybe even again as they land on the server.

Ulikely that the server will scan files being opened *from* itself, as that
is its main job... to allow files to be opened, and it has presumbably scanned
said files on the way in and during scheduled real time scans.
