Have you tried looking through the options for the particular application
you have this issue with, to see if there's a "default file location"
setting you can change? For example:
--- In Firefox for example you go to Options > Tools and change the download
folder there.
--- In MS Word 2007 you go to Word Options > Save and change the default
file location for saving Word docs, and I expect it's similar for earlier
MS Word releases). The procedure would be similar for each application you
use.
You can also delete the old user account since you're not using it that
should at least get rid of the older user's folders. If the above doesn't
work, I'm out of suggestions.
