What are you using to download the files with? FTP Web or P2P?
If this is IE Go into Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab and press
the reset button to see if that clears it up. This also could be a anti
virus program removing the programs or files, you will have to check the
AV's log or notification area to see if that is the culprit.

definitely enough storage room.
all of my files go to desktop too so would see if or when it works
other things Ive done via internet research -

went into User Accounts, canceled UAC
that did nothing so went back in and clicked it for activation

did the whole MSCONFIG thing and nothing starts up that i dont want
reboot - still no downloads

Uninstalled AV
still downloads are just empty

CAO
i figured mine out....was hesitant..but try

If you're using Firefox, type about:config into the address bar an
scroll down to "browser.downloadmanager.scanoncomplete" or somethin
like that. Turn off virus scanning on download completion and it'll b
good as gold

mine was called BROWSER.DOWNLOADMANGER.SCANWHENDON
i double clicked - which made it bold
and now i have my downloads back

good luck

Try holding down the 'CTRL' key while you download until it completes. I
have this issue at work and it seems to work.
