Some 'thing' is interfering with the installation of the software
components.
Those 'things' may be antivirus/security suites, 3rd party firewalls
[Commodo, Zone Alarm, etc.], popup/cookie blockers included with 3rd
party toolbars, download managers, internet 'accelerators', security
software [ex: Spybot's TeaTimer, any software that monitors or blocks
ActiveX installations, etc], and any Internet Explorer add-ons.
Suggest you go here and install the software controls [ aka Windows
Update Agent or Client ] from a Command Prompt that includes
/wuforce :

If the OS is Vista, use an Elevated Command Prompt [ right click
'command' and choose ' Run as administrator ' ]
