Fille Attributes

Hi,

Can anyone explain the file permission and file attribute handling. VISTA
seems to handle this much differently than XP. I recently installed software
and checked the owner of the installed files and noticed it was some
innocuous large number and not the name of the user under which it was
installed. I also noticed that the attributes are set to "read only', but
when I try to reset it, it looks like it resets but when I check again the
attributes are still set for read only for the directory that was installed
during software setup.

This is causing an enormous problem with file management. Any tutorials out
there that might explain what and why VISTA does differently from XP in
regards to file owner, permissions, and/or attribute handling?

Thanks,

Mark
