How can I find to which Update a specific file belongs ??

Eg. on my development system I have a mscomctl.ocx with version 6.01.98.13
while on the user system there is version 6.01.95.45

So which Update is missing on the user system ??

How can I generally find which updates are containing a specific file ?

this site offers me three products :
- Office XP
- Office 2003
- Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

it doesn't know nothing about:
- Windows XP
- Vista
- Office 2007

and so it does not know about a mscomctl.ocx with version 6.01.98.13

May be this site is a little bit outdated ??

Regards

Klaus

Sorry, these are the choices the website gave me, when searching in GERMAN
language. Ther are some more when searching in English,
but still there is no information about Vista and Office2007 ....

I think you're correct, it probably
is a bit outdated. This was the only
source I could think of at the time.

(cross-post added to MBSA)

There is a huge .xml file which can be derived from using the MBSA.
Unfortunately it is not as easy to use as it once was (e.g. using
command line switch /HF).

See if you can figure out what this means...

<title> Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.1 Frequently Asked Questions</title>
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../cc184922.aspx
<quote>
Q: What happened to the HFNetChk-style scan of previous versions of MBSA?
The previous MBSA detection engine has been replaced with the Windows Update Agent,
and it has been fully integrated into the MBSA-style scan. For users accustomed to the
/HF mode of scanning in previous versions of MBSA, a lightweight solution requiring only
Mbsacli.exe and Wusscan.dll is provided using the /xmlout (xml data) parameter.
This parameter provides basic output to the console in XML format, making integration
with other solutions fast and easy. The output includes all the data elements of the /HF
mode and more.

When you've figured it out please come back and tell us. <eg>

Good luck
