I have not bee able to install a number of MS updates. When I install them
it goes to the end well. Then I look at Update History and find out most have
failed. Where do I find an Error Msg?

The error codes are useful when you view the %systemroot%\windowsupdate.log
file.

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log

and then click OK.

Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error
code(s)
associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install.

If appropriate copy and paste the error codes into this thread so someone
may be able to assist you.

On the other hand, you may be able to find the error code and other
suggestions by searching the Newsgroup.

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093>

Also check Windows folder for file called KB******.log (****** = number of
update ie KB896688) and post the contents of the failed update.
This may provide further clues as to why the update failed.

In Update History, try right clicking on the word "failure" and selecting
View Details.

Sorry about the Window version. It's Vista X32 SP1. (SP2 is one of the
updates that keeps failing).

My question now is this. Is there a way to print replies other than screen
prints?

Thanks.

Maybe we can assist you here, Jack: What Error (number) is associated with
the failure of SP2 to install?

How to troubleshoot Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack
installation issues
[Errors 0x80070002; 0x8007000D; 0x80073712; 0x800B0100; & 0x8024200D]
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack installation fails with
error 0x80004005:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971204

Error message when you try to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 or
Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2: "An internal error occurred while
installing the service pack":
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967818

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows Vista, but only for Service Pack 2 (SP2). This support for Windows
Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) is valid until November 26, 2009. Availability of
chat or e-mail support differs depending on your geographic location. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...4&gprid=582034 &
select appropriate category (e.g., Installation).

What other updates have failed to install and what Error(s) were associated
with those failures?

> Is there a way to print replies other than screen prints?

Sure: IE File | Print... (or CTRL+P)

If you want to have all replies to your thread available for offline
reference, you could save the thread-view page to, e.g., the desktop or My
Documents via (IE) File | Save as... or you could simply copy/paste a reply
into Notepad.

The "thread view page" is just what I'm looking for, but how does a mere
mortal construct such a link?

All of the updates that failed to install had the same error code 0x90070652.
Dpes that raise any red flags?

A1. See TaurArian's reply. Chances are SP2 (or one of the other updates,
which may include a SP2 Prerequisite update) is being installed in the
background, even as you read this. Remember that no-charge support for
getting SP2 installed is available; see my previous reply.

A2. If you double-click on any post in your thread, a thread-view page
should open in another tab or window, depending on how you have IE
configured, Jack.

Alternately, you might consider...
