Hi, I am so lossst. I miss my xp. I now have Vista and when I download a
picture from the internet it sends it (not by my choice) to Temporary
Internet Files Folder. When I look for this I can't find it. Is there a
setting I can turn off so it won't do this. I don't want to go thru 20
thousand steps to get my file. When I tell it to save it to my picture file
that is exactly what I want it to do. This new Vista stinks!!!!!!!

What format are the pictures?
If .jpg , then you may have to associate that filename with Windows Photo
Gallery, then the default save would be Pictures folder.

Control Panel_ Internet Option_Programs Tab_Set programs button...Associate
a file type...select the file type, then the program

What's the problem here? When I download a file from the Internet, I can
point to any folder I want the file save to. It doesn't make any difference
what O/S I am using when doing the download.

If you want to find the file because you're mis-placing the file, then use
the Windows Key and *F*-key, use Advanced Search, check-on Include
non-indexed files and go find the file.

When you save a photo in IE7, you get to tell it where to save it. If you
don't want it in the Temp Int files folder, change it.
When you get the Save Picture window, Click on the Browse Folders button and
select which folder you want, like C:\Users\youraccount\Pictures

It is in jpeg format. When I save it to my pictures folder it pops up a
window and says for security reasons it is saving it to Temporary Internet
Files Folder. It asks if I want to open this if I say yes there is nothing
there.

I do tell it to save it to my pictures folder. When I hit save it then saves
it to the Temporary Internet Files Folder. It does not give me a choice at
that point on wether I want to save it there or not. It does ask if I want
to open the folder and when I do there is nothing there.

Using Vista? If so, that's your problem!

Cheers.

I am pretty sure you can do a SaveAs and save to any directory you want to
save it to. There is also the other security issue with Vista saving the
file that was downloaded or came from a foreign computer. A file of that
type that came for another computer will have the Unblock button, when you
right-click the file saved to the HDD and go to Properties. You may have to
unblock the file.
