Firefox or Vista problem?

I used FF3 to open 17 tabs and it stopped working, I closed the tabs and
tried to reopen FF3 but it says it is still running but not responding and I
should restart my computer. This has happened daily for about a week. I
have tried to end the process in task manager but it doesn't end. IE works
and other internet programs work. I have also uninstalled FF3 and
reinstalled but it still happens.

Why won't task manager end the firefox program so I don't have to restart my
computer? What can I do to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

How much physical memory (RAM) do you have installed? I suspect that by having 17 windows open,
you are maxing out your computer's memory, especially if those web sites are graphics-intensive.

I never had a problem until a week ago and I tried fewer tabs this time
(after restart) and a few loaded and then quit. I have 2gb ram and only had
messenger running plus avg and zonealarm. But why would the process not end
in task manager? I shouldn't have to restart the whole computer.

Are you running the "beta" version of FF, or the latest release
version?

Have you recently installed any add-ons?

Have you tried re-installing the full program?

ALWAYS be:

No beta - latest release

I just looked and saw the netframeworks assistant 1.0 don't know how or when
that installed? Should I uninstall .net framework it won't uninstall in
firefox add on.

Leave it installed. I have it here and am not having your problem.

I'm clueless what your problem is at this point.

Here is how to do it:

(It got installed when you installed the .NET upgrade to 3.5 from
Microsoft update)
