What to know before you download and install Windows XP SP2:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/s...hattoknow.mspx
I haven't seen any guidance from Microsoft on this question, which suggests
that it is irrelevant. Leave your firewall on if you choose and the install
should work just fine. Who suggested that it should be off?
Besides, as I advise everyone who is paranoid about this service pack, there
are plenty of backup options available today to completely protect your
system before attempting any major change like this, so if you don't have a
backup plan in place first, don't bother.
