Firewire SP KB885222 will not install

Cannot install SP KB885222 update for firewire. message says "access denied"
the installation did not complete". I am administrator and I've tried in safe
mode. And the patch is not listed in add remove programs, so it seems that I
havent already installed it. I have alienware notebook area 51 win xp sp 2.

any ideas?

Hello Greg. Did you ever find a solution to this specific problem. I have
exactly the same one, also with Windows XP SP2. Thank you. Xavier/Belgium

I think is because I already had it installed even though it doesnt show up
in add remove programs for windows updates.

I think is because I already had it installed even though it doesnt show up
in add remove programs for windows updates.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't find it either in add/remove programs. I
would wish Microsoft would post the reason/solution to this unusual
situation. Should I come across something concrete, I will advise you. Thank

I'm trying to install the same patch but am encountering the same response:
"set-up error, access denied, installation did not complete." I don't think
the patch was ever installed, because my firewire audio device, a Mackie
Satellite, still performs badly.

Any new ideas on how to run this patch successfully?

I have exactly the same problem. How do you uninstall it if you can't see it?
