First install screen - no mouse or keyboard!

When I boot from the DVD to install Vista, on the very first screen where you
select your language etc, I don't have any control, e.g. it acts as if the
mouse and keyboard are not hooked up. Why would this happen?

Are you using a PS/2 mouse to make sure it is supported during install?

Yes the keyboard and mouse are both PS2

This is a P5VDC-MX motherboard, 1GB memory.
