I just got a new computer 3 months ago with Windows XP. I
have just now gotten online & have never been to the
Windows Update site for any updates for it. Can I just
load the SP2 Update & my computer will be up to date or do
I need any updates for my XP first before I install the
SP2?`Is there an SP1? does that have to be on my computer
before I install the SP2 or will just the SP2 be needed?

If you do not already have SP1,(although I suspect that you do), there's no
need to install it. SP2 is cumulative. It includes all previous updates for
XP. If you want to know if SP1 is installed on your system, right click on
the 'My Computer' icon, and then click 'properties'. The 'general' tab will
be displayed which will list the installed service pack, if any is
installed.

Hope this helps.

Steve;
No other updates are necessary before installing SP-2.
SP-2 includes all Critical Updates including SP-1 so no need to
install SP-1 first.

The best is to get SP-2 on CD, #1 on the Service pack Installation
