I contacted HP Support with no success on resolving this issues.

I have a HP Multimedia Keyboard that came with Media Center PC and now i
cannot customize the shortcut button because the tab button or button tab on
the keyboard properties is missing after installing this critical update
KB908531 on Microsoft Update. (start>control panel>printer and other
hardware>Keyboard properties)

Speed tab: available
Hardware tab: available
Button tab(for HP Multimedia Keyboard): Missing/dissappear after
installation of KB908531. Uninstalling this update resolve the problem

I've been waiting for Microsoft Update to update the faulty KB908531 that
cause some application to not work properly but i have not receive it. Where
can I download the software? is it even available? any answer?

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com or as standalone download via
DownloadCenter (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads). For Windows XP SP2:

Yes it is - since April 25th as announced. Note that it's still called
KB908531 on the Windows Update site, but it's version 2 (v2) which is
offered there.

Bye,

The revised version of 908531 has been automatically available since Tuesday
25th, but you will never receive it by Windows Update because it is offered
only to PCs with known problems with nVidia graphics drivers or HP
Share-to-Web software. It is not offered to other PCs. IF you uninstall
908531, and allow it to re-install from Windows Update, you will
automatically get the revised version.

Furthermore, if you forcibly download it and install it, it will not cure
your problem, because it only addresses known problems with nVidia graphics
drivers and HP Share-to-Web software: it is not a cure-all for other
problems.

T1J: a word of advice: please do not create multiple threads for the same
problem. Keep all your posts on this topic in a single thread, so that
readers can track back through the history of the issue.

It is entirely possible that your HP Multimedia Keyboard software is another
problematic shell extension that conflicts with 908531, but your best anf
first strategy should be to ensure that you have the latest version of the
HP Multimedia Keyboard software installed from the HP updates site, and see
whether that resolves the issue.

If not, then post a follow-up in this thread, and we can take diagnosis to
the next stage.

You can uninstall KB908531, reboot, then change your keyboard buttons.
Once you reinstall the update, though, you will no longer be able to
change the buttons, although the changes you just made will work. This
isn't as bad as it seems as changing the keyboard buttons should only be
an occasional task. HP tech informed me Thursday that HP is aware of the
problem and expects to provide a solution, although he doesn't say when.

HP's original suggestion was to use system recovery, which would take my
computer back to its factory installed configuration. That's overkill,
and I suspect reinstalling the KB update after going through that task
would still kill the buttons tab.
