If there any fixes to this situation, I'd appreciate. The input I got last
time wasn't really helpful because the kb896688 log file wasn't even listed.
Any insight is great.

Get rid of it via add /remove programs until Microsoft comes up with a fix

Are you serious? I'm not doubting your reasoning. I see a bunch of mixed
results with people having success and no success... then it depends on what
system you have. Well I have another question here... since you advise me to
just ignore update, will Windows Update then get rid of that update and place
it with something else, meaning it will override that update, it wont appear
or show up in the Critical Updates to download part and show something new
instead ?

One would hope so............My contention is that although a "small
minority" of folks are having trouble with this update this could amount to
many thousands depending on how many Windows based systems there are out
there. Microsoft should specify that this update can be problematic for some
OS, particularly 98SE and ME. .....or they should delete it until they fix
it. It's only common sense and decency, as well good customer relations.
Unfortunately, they've yet to respond so.

Question: I was looking some of the threads that I wrote concering this
problem... Not sure who wrote it.... wait it was PA bear.... he gave me a
few links about the whole Windows Update and how to download mumbo jumbo... I
clicked on the Service Pack 1 for the IE6setup... is there a new version of
that cuz i went to the download page and it gave a listing of each operating
system's qualifications for running this download?

Another thing... I wrote up my situation to a microsoft tech guy over the
weekend and he sent me an email with specific instructions on how to fix this
problem here or so it is guidelines... Now heres my question... should i
listen to him or to you... All i care about is having this fixed and i think
we can all agree ? Appreciate your thoughts/concerns/input on this.
