Flash Drives and IPOD not working properly after several Vista upd

After many updates were downloaded over the past 2 weeks flash drives and
IPOD get the following message when plugged into the laptop: "Windows need to
format the drive ......"
The drives and IPOD work fine on an XP machine and worked fine on the Vista
machine approximately 2 weeks ago.

Whats an IPOD ?

Is that like a Zune ?

I'd get a Zune....we have 2 of 'em.

Fixin to have 3 of 'em.

They work all the time.

Call Apple for their mediocre iPOD.
