So the flat stomach ads have finally made their way to windows live messenger
eh? Any way to shut this crap up for good?

Any problems caused by software made by leading manufacturers is always the
users fault, never the manufacturer. That''''s the real world of computer
software manufacturers, deal with it.

Click on that red rectangle with the white "X" in the top right corner
of the window and they will go away.

From MSN's standpoint your convenience using the instant messenger is
NOT the primary goal. Their goal is to obtain revenue selling ads. Your
desire to use the messenger client, which displays the ads, is what
makes the ad purchase worth the payment the "flat stomach" company makes
to MSN. Your viewing the ad is your "payment" for using the Live
messenger server.

Greetings,

Advertising on Messenger is targeted to a specific locale (country) in your Windows Live ID,
so if you change the locale you'll get different ads. You can change your locale information
at http://account.live.com.

If you meant to completely remove the advertisements, please keep in mind that the ads do
support and pay for the service. Since it will be mentioned anyway, you can remove them by
using third-party unsupported patches such as A-Patch or Mess Patch. I won't be providing
links as I don't believe anyone should be patching their client for this reason.

I never said that you guys had to remove them, I said that those advertisers
should get a life and stop thinking everyone in America is fat.

Well, there are a LOT of Americans that could lose some weight (I'm one
of them). Like MANY other ads I just ignore the "flat stomach" one I see
on the "Windows Live Mail Today" page (I don't use instant messengers
much). I would imagine the ads would stop if someone wasn't purchasing
whatever diet pill, supplement, diet plan or exercise the "flat stomach"
company is selling.

"Any way to shut this crap up for good?" certainly looks like you were
seeking a way to block those ads and others.

If only that stuff worked

Actually I lost 100+ pounds just after the turn of the century by eating nothing but salad,
carrots and spaghetti sauce
