Sure it does. Did you upgrade from XP? Did the drive work in XP? If you
upgraded, did you then install all the Vista drivers for your hardware?
This would include the motherboard drivers, which include the drive
controller drivers.

Does it show in Control Panel, Device manager? If it does, uninstall the
driver and restart. If not, the drive is broken.

John, open your control panel. Make sure your set to classic veiw. There
is a link on the left of the screen that will say " classic veiw" if
your not.

Then select administrative tools.

Select computer management. Click OK if the UAC pops up.

Select disk management from the left side of the window.

After doing so, look in the larger right hand pane and look for your
floppy drive. If its there check to see what drive letter your computer
is assigning it. Make sure your computer is'nt trying to double up drive
letters. If it is, right ckick on the drive you need to change the
letter of and select change drive letter.

If its not there, not in device manager or in your BIOS. Your drive is
either bad, disconected, Missing some driver it should'nt be as Vista
has plenty of generic drivers that should run such a legacy device no
problem.

Floppys are pretty pre-historic. I don't use em unless I gotta. And
none are even installed in my entire household. Thats 10 systems.

I'm bettin on bad drive letter assignment or bad drive alltogether.

Good luck.

fail y'know...

Can you boot the computer from a DOS diskette? If yes, then the floppy
drive should appear in Vista.

Do you have floppy drive support turned on in the BIOS?

Is the floppy drive access light on all the time? If so, the cable is
reversed.

Are you using the cable end that has the twist in it (not the connector in
the middle, the one on the end)?

Floppy drives are commodity items (i.e., made from old beer-can metal) and
cost about $10.00. Try another.
