Folder delete problem

I hope this is enough information. I have a folder that I delete
periodically and replace with a folder from another computer on my home
network. The problem is a message that I get when I attempt to delete the
folder - "You need permission to perform this action." Permissions all show
full control. I'm attempting to delete it with an administrator account and
I've attempted to run MS Explorer as administrator and still can't delete
the folder. What is odd to me is I can delete the folder if I log off and
log back in again as the same user. Is there anything I can do so I don't
have to go through the process of logging off and back in again? Thank you.

Something is obviously reinstalling the folder. You have to troubleshoot to
find out what program is causing it to be recreated.

As the other poster indicates it may be malware or a virus.
run good anti-virus anti-malware programs to see. Also before rebooting look
at "msconfig" and see if something is loading that may be recreating the
folder.

Lots of possibilities. Take is slow and be thorough. Also back up your
registray and any critical data you need to protect before proceeding.

Also you migt give us more information before proceeding.

Good luck and regards,

"Take Ownership"

Add "Take Ownership" to right-click menu in Vista

You can't take ownership on a folder which can have malware or viruse
that have link to the registry,
And if there is malware.. msconfig or task manager can't see th
files.. correct me if i'm wrong!

I think the fact that the files had been copied from another pc can b
that it contains virus or malware.. but the secuirty option can still b
modified if you go on "properties" > security tab.. ofcourse if you ar
using the profile setup with administrative rights.

Or other option is to open the folder and delete the files one by on
and see which one is refusing to delete.. send us the details of th
file..

Regard

I would think if ownership settings or malware were the culprits, I would not be able to delete the folder without killing the malware or modifying the ownership settings. Just as an FYI, I have run Malware Bytes on the computer in question as well as the other computers on my home network and all are clean. I have thoroughly checked the ownership settings on the folder and they are set correctly. If I log out and back in I can delete the folder without doing anything else.

1. You could activate the real administrator account and switch users; that
might help. In an elevated cmd prompt, run "net user administrator
/active:yes" (no quotes!) to activate the real admin; later change yes to
no to deactivate it.

2. I think something is using the folder, but it doesn't start using it for
a few seconds after you start, giving you time to delete it. There is also
downloadable freeware to unlock files; I've not had good luck with them :-)

I think perhaps you had the file open somewhere else either in the other
profile you got on the computer or some of its application was still
running which make it an open file so can't be deleted or rename.. being
far and providing information is based on the details been posted but
thats good to know and thanks for posting the solution..
