Could someone tell me why the folders are not listed on the left side of my
screen.
The screen shots on the web show them listing. I can't see them. All I have
is a white area on the left that does nothing.

First of all, the newsgroup for Windows Live Mail Desktop beta is
microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail.
The solution is:

Close WLMDB

open regedit and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta

delete “Rules” sub key

restart WLMDB

Any other suggestions.

Got it working.

I had to uninstall the application.
Go to regedit and delete all the entries under the entry you listed.
Go to windows explorer and delete all the directories there also.

Reinstall the app.

THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT WHEN IT ACCESS OUTLOOK EXPRESS AND IMPORTED MY
NEWSGROUPS, IT READ FROM SOMEWHERE THE GROUPS I WAS NO LONGER SUBSCRIBED TO
AND FAILED TO CREATE THE FOLDER LISTING SOMEHOW. I NOTICED THE IMPORTING
WINDOW IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN IT WAS FIRST STARTING AND WATCHED THE
NEWSGROUPS IT TRIED TO IMPORT. I WAS NOT CURRENTLY SUBSCRIBED TO ANY, BUT HAD
VISTED SEVERAL. JUST BEFORE IT LET ME IN IT GAVE ME A MESSAGE ABOUT NOT DOING
SOMETHING, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS RELATED TO THE NEWSGROUPS AND DID NOT GIVE IT
SECOND THOUGHT, UNTIL YOUR REPLY INSURED ME THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE
SHOWING, AND IT WASN'T SOME BUG.

Now it looks more like Outlook and Outlook Express with the folders on the
side.

Thanks for the new app to try.

Thanks for reporting back. Hopefully the next available build won't be quite as
buggy. :-)
