Folder Size in Size Column

While browsing files and folders I've noticed something extreemly
annoying. You can see the size of individual files in the Size column
but you cant see the folder's contents size. This extreemly frustrating
and I cant seem to find where I can enable that function.

I know you can scroll your mouse over folders one at a time and a
window will apear and you can see the size then, but thats just
inconveniant for what Im doing. I need to be able to glance at multiple
folder sizes constantly.

This has been the default behavior in Windows Explorer forever. There are
some third party shell extensions that add this capability. Try a Google
search for "folder size column"

You mean "Windows live search" Im sure....

Still its annoying, this is a perfect example of why people are
frustrated with vista. Something small and simple and it never gets
addressed. Good thing I can set my background as a movie.

No, I meant what I wrote. I prefer Google for searching.

There's a reason for this: Calculating folder sizes can be quite time
consuming in large deeply nested
folders.

Almost any alternative file manager, though, will give you an option to show
folder sizes in a column. Try for example http://www.xyplorer.com/

I just recently noticed the "Total File size" and "File size" Columns,
what are they for? I've enabled them thinking that "Total File Size"
would display the total file size for the file in the column and
something along the same lines with "File Size" but they dont show
anything when I enable them.

I downloaded that xyplorer but I dont think I'll like it. I want
something that you can enable in Vista natively. I dont really see much
of a performance difference when using the app though, Im running about
967MB before the app is open and 996MB once its open.
