I would like to know how I can set up a folder in VISTA to sort items
ascending or descending. When I add new items to a folder, i simply want to
have the newest items added to the bottom of the folder, as I could with XP.
The folder theoretically gives one options; for example, I can hit the
little arrow between "date taken" and "Tags" and select "Stack by date
taken," but it does not comply. newer items still show up randomly. clicking
on "date taken" should order them ascending or descending, but does neither.
I don't want to go to the trouble of renaming files as I download them. Why
can't I set my preferences for folders the way I wish and have them stay
that way.

Right click one of the columns and add "Date".

Right click a blank area of the folder & then select Sort By & select Date
Modified & select Ascending or Descending as applicable.
