When I create an email or reply to one, my on screen font is about 20 or
larger even though it is sent to 10. When people get my email, it is smaller
than the setting, about 8 or 9. I have gont to Tools | Options | Compose a
hundred times and set it correctly but its no use. Please advise. It was
fine until I opened someone's email that was set to this size and it seems to
have messed up mine.

Are you using any stationery at all? Tools | Options | Compose.

No stationery, no business cards, and no other special features. I did a

Use this to insert a link of a screen shot into a post.

I am not clear if you are composing a plaintext or HTML message.

Tools|options|Compose is for the settings when composing an HTML message.
When composing a plaintext message there is no information about fonts, size
etc. sent with the message.

To control how you VIEW a plaintext message (reading or composing) try
Tools
Options
Read
Fonts
Font Size
note that it is 'relative' font size not specific point size.

How a plaintext message is viewed is controlled by the recipient not the
sender.

I am not sure which link to use so here are a few:

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img
src="http://i45.tinypic.com/akvjmv.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video
hosting by TinyPic"></a>

Let me know if I need to do something different.

The second link worked. The last of the four in TinyPic is the one you
want to use.

I believe what you are seeing is normal. Here is a new message of mine
using Arial 10.

http://i46.tinypic.com/dw7z9i.png

Some things to consider.

The recipient can control the size of what they see. In WLMail, View |
Text Size has 5 size options. WinMail and OE were the same.

Screen resolution is another issue.

When you compare it to Word, you may not see the real size depending on
your zoom setting for Word, and the fact that it just isn't the same
program. Copying it to Word is a more accurate way to test, and you say
that looks good.

I really don't think there is anything wrong. FWIW, I use Ariel 12pt for
mail and news. This is 12pt. Try creating a message in 12 pt, but lower
the viewing size one level in View | Text Size.

I dont use WLM in Hotmail format. I use it as a stand alone in HTML and up
until about 3 days ago the font I would type in my outgoing emails was about
the same size as the names in the To: and CC: boxes. Now it is so much
larger. Your link showed it pretty large as well. I will go with it and see
what happens.

Thanks for your help.

What is 'Hotmail format' and 'stand alone in HTML'?
