I have a 3rd party software that creating file that is not needed and this
file is causing problems. I've asked the vendor and they said all I have to
do is delete this file. When ever I try to delete the file, I get the error
message of "Cannot delete (filename): It's being used by another person or
program. Close all programs...blah blah." It's the standard message. I
have to reboot the server and then I can delete it. The vendor said I can
force delete and then I wouldn't have to reboot the server.

Is there a way to force delete of this file in the command prompt? If so,
I can then create a simple batch that will run every hour to delete it.

Thanks!

Kill the process that locks the file, then delete the file. You
can use oh.exe (Windows 2000 Resource Kit) to find out
which process locks the file.

You can kill "explorer" processes and use a third party software like Total
Commander to delete the file.. Though this is not automated, at least you
don't have to reboot the server...
