The Security Bulletin located at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms04-038.mspx lists a
download for Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP Service Pack 2. If this
update is already part of Service Pack 2, then why is this listed and
available?
As stated, this is a fault in SUS and there is no real "fix" other than
making the older updates unavailable in SUS. -OR- Forcing the install of the
older Cumulative Security Updates for IE, followed by the latest version.
This is the information I have located on this issue from SUSserver.com, etc.
Basically, I'm just testing all this before I inform the SUS folks on what
they need to do, which would be to un-approve the older cumulative security
updates for IE.
Let me re-phrase the question. The "newer" security updates I have
downloaded for XPsp2 do not support the older command switches to force an
install (/n:v). I'm looking for the equivalent command switch to do this with
the newer updates that use Update.exe.
Thanks.
My original question was how to force an install of the patch. Not whether
