I have Mailwasher Pro installed on my Vista Home Premium 32 computer.
It came pre-installed from Dell. I cannot open the file without i
telling me that I need permission to open. I'm the only one on thi
computer and I'm signed on as the Administrator

I have went to properties/compatibilities and checked 'Run A
Administrator'. This failed to correct the problem, so I added th
check box to run under XP-SP2, still no assistance in being able t
running it without the extra steps to click on the Pop-up dialog tellin
me the program is unidentified. I have even made sure it is listed a
an Exception in the Firewall module

Any ideas

Danni

MS calls that Security.
I call it a pain in my rectum.
The workaround to MS stupidity is to make it a scheduled task and set to run
at startup.

Hi Dannie

You always have to do that - it's what uac is for.

Go here and download and run this script:
http://www.paulsxp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=156
This script will Disable/Enable the annoying UAC elevation prompts

The work around is to update Mail Washer Pro to the latest update. I have
been using it for a year without any problems at all.

I run MW the free version that's not Vista compliant sort of speaking,
and I have no problems running MW. No exe or short-cut needs to run MW
with Run As Administrator enabled. MW runs with Standard user rights and
no UAC prompt for Admin privileges are displayed. Also, I don't have run
under XP-SP2 compatibility mode enabled either.

Also the firewall has nothing to do with it.
