Force Update check for testing purposes

I have an issue where users are not being notified when new updates are
available. I am messing around in the registry and gpeditor to make it so
that they get notified. However, when I do changes to the registry and/or
gpeditor I don't know if the changes I have done are the correct ones. I have
to play the waiting game. For example. If I select the "Download updates for
me, but let me choose when to install them." option in AU ... how long do I
have to wait for Windows to download updates and send me the pop up?

Can I change a setting in Windows so that it checks with the update server
every 5 minutes or so? For testing purposes of course.

Best I can offer is this:

Click Start, select Run and then type in: wuauclt.exe /detectnow
