Forced install timer expired for scheduled install

All the PC's in my domain attempt to update Windows every night at the same
time. Some update, some don't. On the PC's that don't update, I get the
following error in windowsupdate.log: "Forced install timer expired for
scheduled install." What does this error mean? If I go to a webbrowser and
type www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com, I can update each PC one at a time, but
that's a very laborious process.
