I have a dfs namespace with 3 dfs namespace servers in 3 diffent sites. One
of the servers (which was a dfs Namespace Servers) crashed and was replaced
with a new server with a new name. AT present dfs is working but sometimes it
is very slow at connecting to or opening files and I made sure that the
computers in the sites are pointing to the correct dfs servers within that
site.
I beleive the slowenes my be due to the crashed server still being listed as
a namespace server. When trying to remove the old crashed server from the
namespace tab inthe DFS Management Console I get the following results.
"The namespace \\My namespace\ on "the crashed server name" cannot be
detecte. The RPC server is unavailable. Do you want to forcibly remove th
namespce server."
If I click OK I get the following error.
The maespce server \\crased server name\ cannot be forcible removed. The
system cannot find the file specified.
If I run dfsutil /root:\\my namespace /view:
it still shows up in the top under the Sidecosting, Rootscalability,
TargetFailback area.
If I Run "dfsdiag /testdfsintegrity /dfsroot:\\my root name /full:
It shows:
DFSDIAG_ERROR - SYS - The RPC server is unavailable
DFSDIAG_ERROR - SYS - The specified domain either does not exist or could
not be contacted.
DFSDIAG_WARNING - APPL - Unable to access dfs metadat of <\\My crashed
server name>
