I bought a PC with a licence number for window vista, but they didn't sell me
any CD or DVD for WVista. I wonder how to reinstall the operating system in
case I should format C

thank you

You would have to check the website, contact the manufacturer or read your
manual. There should be a restore disk or restore partition available to
reload Vista to factory delivered condition

Simply follow the recovery instructions provided by the computer
manufacturer. They'll be available both in the documentation that
accompanied the computer purchase, and on the computer manufacturer's
web site.

Hi. They [the computer maker] might send you a disc. They may or may not
charge for it. Your computer may have a hidden recovery partition and all
you need is the instructions to restore Vista from the recovery partition.

Please note: If you install Windows in anyway not prescribed by the
manufacturer you may void the warranty. Reformatting the harddrive in anyway
not presecribe by the manufacturer may void the warranty. Deleting any
hidden recovery partition may void the warranty. But this might not matter
if the computer is already a year old, say, and the warranty has expired.

Also note: restoring from a hidden recovery partition or reformatting the C:
drive will wipe all data already on drive. Be sure to make backups of
important documents and of data.

Please note: sometimes there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Here something I found I can do here:

If your PC came with an 'Windows Anytime Upgrade' disc - as many do - it is
actually a full generic copy of Windows Vista. Beforehand, you can download
the specific hardware device drivers for the model your computer from the
manufacturer's website and burn them to CD/DVD-R. Thereafter, install
Windows Vista using the 'Windows Anytime Upgrade' disc. Any drivers the
Windows installation misses you can install from the CD/DVD-R you created
beforehand.

Use the Product Key you find on the sticker on the computer [if it's a
laptop it might be on the underside of your computer]. When installing, make
sure you select the same version of Windows as was originally installed.

You might even be happier with such an installation than the original
because a generic copy of Windows installs without all the third party
junkware that clogs the system.

'Hope this helps.
