Format of Screen

Why is it that the screen looks great until it has finished loading. When
I'm able to scroll and look the small scrolling window is 3 1/2 by 1 1/2 and
it takes forever to scroll and find anything. The welcome back screen is 5 x
1 1/2 Is there something that I need to do to set it up? Thanks.
