Formating Windows XP64

I really need to get XP64 off my comp, i even tried just formating the hard
drive, i tried format c: and then it says press Y/N to confirm that it will
be lost, then nothing happens, and i try format c: /fs:ntfs and does the Y/N
thing and i do Y ahd just does nothing, I really need help with this please i
cant use anythign but MSN and explorer with windows 64 basicly ruiend my new
comp

If your goal is a Clean Installation of Windows XP:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/cleanxp.htm
This will take care of formatting and partitioning.

If your operating system came with the computer, follow the manual and/or
contact the manufacturer for reinstallation details.
All manufacturers do it a little differently but typically start by booting
to the first recovery CD.

That doesnt do anything it just says that there is a newer version of windows
on there. i need to basicly have the hard drive cleared this is driving me
crazy???

If you are getting that message, you are not following the instructions for
a Clean Installation.
Read the instructions again...closer.
