Formatting to FAT (FAT16) creates extra reserved sectors

Another "feature" of Vista, unseen in W2000 and before: Formatting th
partition on my CompactFlash card produces 6 reserved sectors, tha
means the boot sector (ok) and 5 additional sectors (bad)

Microsoft Windows CE 2.0 hates every FAT system having more than th
usual 1 reserved (boot) sector and only offers to format the car
itself. This is my good old Casio A-20 handheld

So far ... the WinCE 2.0 writes only a minimally filled boot sector, n
text like "FAT" in there. While Vista (and W2000) can access files o
such a volume (partition), it is unable to check the file system becaus
the check does not detect it as FAT

Excellent compatibility

Best Regards, Ral
