Hello,

SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003
Due to a problematic employee I would like to forward all incoming and
outgoing emails from this one specific user to their manager. I know I can
setup incoming mail to forward through the Exchange General tab but what
about outgoing mail. If I configure Journaling won't that copy all emails
(incoming and outgoing) for all mailboxes in the store? I don't want all,
just this one user. Any other options. Thanks.

Steve

First, have you consulted senior management about this? Independently
making this decision could put you in jeparody.

I know of nothing to selectively forward outgoing mail of single person's
email.

Senior management is this employee's manager and owner of the company.

No 3rd party products available?

Maybe this one...

SelectiveJournaling for MS Exchange 2000/2003
http://www.ivasoft.biz/sj.shtml

or an Outlook rule (which would be user-defeatable of course).

Thanks for the reply.

I did see this product at one point but the cost was more than what we want
to spend.

What do you mean by "user-defeatable"?

User-defeatable: If you create a rule in the user's Outlook profile (inside
Outlook), he will be able to turn it off if he finds it.

You could also implement message journaling or envelope journaling. Both of
these will archive all messages to and from all users. You can direct these
mesages to a public folder only accessible to certain individuals (like the
Boss). Exchange performance may take a hit and much more disk space may be
required.

It's quite handy to have a simple SMTP server running in a network in
addition to Exchange. You can find all kinds of odd little jobs for it
to do...
