Forwarding emails containing pictures problem

I'm using Windows Live Mail 2011 with Windows 7, 64-bit version.

I can receive messages with pictures embedded in the text but when I try
to forward one of these messages to someone else, I get the following
warning:

"One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found.
When you send this message these pictures will not be included.
Are you sure you want to send this message?"

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this problem?

George

When you look at the *source* of the e-mail (not just how it displays),
do you see MIME parts that would contain the text-encoded content of the
pictures? Or are the images provided as HTML links to external content
from some other server?

I'll check and get back...

Right,
I'm, back again, having just received a message with pictures that I
have tried to forward on but couldn't, as the warning came up.
Checking the source of the original, message, it says:
"This is a multi-part message in MIME format"
So, back to the original question. Is there a way round this?
It's never happened with Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird or the
previous version of Windows Live Mail. So why does Windows Live Mail
2011 do this?
And is there a fix or work-around?
And do Microsoft know about the problem?
And does a bear s**t in the woods?
Enquiring minds need to know...
;-)

Does one of those MIME parts have a header like this?

| Content-Type: image/jpeg;
| name="top179.jpg"
| Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
| Content-ID: <>
| Content-Disposition: inline;
| filename="top179.jpg"
|
| /9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAgAAZABkAAD/7AARRHVja3kAAQAEAAAAPAAA/+4ADkFkb2JlAGTAAAAAAf/b
| AIQABgQEBAUEBgUFBgkGBQYJCwgGBggLDAoKCwoKDBAMDAwMDA wQDA4PEA8ODBMTFBQTExwbGxsc

There should be much more than those two lines of random junk; depending on
the acual size of the image. If you have the whole pile of random
characters, you have an embedded image, and WLM 2011 will forward it
properly; I just tried it on one of my messages. Otherwise, I'd have to try
and find a message with the kind of image link you are having problems with.

Who knows? Microsoft tweak a number of features of WLM 2011, and it is hard
to say what else they broke than the usual complaints cover.

Received messages in WLM with sender inserted pictures(WLM, Outlook, OE)
forward fine to all the isp's/email domains I've tried(earthlink, comcast,
yahoo, google, umich.edu, roadrunner).

Is there a fix ?
- None applicable. The only update was a QFE(quick fix engineering)
1. Windows Live Writer was updated due to an inability to use the ALT Gr
key (French Keyboard) which allows the user to enter special characters (#,
{ ~ etc )
2. Windows Live Mail updated for the character # at the end of each email
if IE9 is installed
3. Under the hood fixes due to IE9 Beta bug fixes (not necessarily for the
current version of IE9 beta, but in prep for future versions[beta/RC].
4. Changes to a few Windows Live PhotoGallery files(Library and Viewer -
WLXPhotoLibraryDatabase.dll, WLXPhotoLibraryMain.dll, WLXPhotoViewer.dll)
5. The full installer(English version) comes in at 209MB vs. the prior
WLE 2011’s size of 155MB
6. The build number of the installer remains at 15.4.3502.922 but has a
new digital signature date of Nov 23, 2010 (due to both
installers[full/web] being capable of installing the newer files or in the
case of the web installer pulling the new files from the web server...i.e.
the installer did not need to change and this variation has occured in the
past).

Is Msft aware of the problem ?
- the ability to duplicate would be necessary..unless you provide some
additional detail with new unknowns, it is unlikely they can duplicate your
symptom(and since it works for many).

Earlier, you were asked if the message source pointed to an external
source...I don't recall that being answered.

Other information that might help folks understand..
- The sending isp
- Sent from a web UI mail client
- Sent from AOL
- Sent from Outlook using RTF
- etc.

As far as the bear ? Only when nature calls.

Does that #2 item fix the issue of the unwanted question mark prepended
to the message body?

The last bit of the message source (which had been forwarded a few times
already and had been received by me OK) reads:
Content-Type: image/jpeg
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-ID: <part1.05000002.01050403@<username of sender.isp.com>
(No mention of any content disposition or filename)
Then many lines of random junk.

That was a cut and paste..after looking at the French site that # was
incorrectly translated. It should have been translated to be '?'

Thus...if correct...the ball would be in IE9's court to address the
original problem created by the beta(that occurs in more than one email
client) and release a fix with the next beta or RC or final RTW version.
If and when that might be addressed afiak has not been made publicly
avaiable(but I've not search the net for an official Msft announcement
since WLM QFE1 went RTW)
