Is Microsoft even addressing the problem experienced by thousands of Windows
Live Messenger users where one of your contacts sends you a file asking you
to click to accept a photo? How do you get rid of this insidious trojan or
worm or what ever the thing is?
I've done everything microsoft told me to do several times and I'm still
getting the worm from one of my contacts who has also done what microsoft
told her to do. Any suggestions out there for me?

Well one major issue is that there's millions of these things floating around and only small
number have been identified and are in the various major virus scanners (which I assume
you've already tried).

However, if you're familiar enough with your PC, just open up Task Manager and locate the
amiss process and then exterminate it yourself. There is no set name however, so if you're
not familiar with what should be running, this could be more difficult.

When you look carefully at the name of this foto you will notice that the name
is something like "foto _00_17.jpg - www.freetrojans.com". Now remember
that, no matter how many spaces are in between, and no matter what it
resembles, ANY name ending on .com (and .exe, .bat, .pif and some even rarer
extensions) is an EXECUTABLE (=program). Removing it is relatively easy. From
Taskmanager kill microsoft.exe; after that remove microsoft.exe from
c:\windows\system32. Then download something like multi_av and cleanup your
system just to make sure. DO NOT run msn untill you are clean; your friends
might start to hate you!
