Two parts:
1) KB928366
This update annoyingly keeps reappearing in Microsoft Updates inspite of
that fact that it apparently installs successfully every time.
Does anyone know why this is happening? And what, if anything, can I do
about it?
2) KB932471
This update always fails with a 0x66A error! Does anyone know what 0x66A
means? I wish Microsoft would give error messages that are intelligible to
the end user who has to deal with this.
Also everytime Microsoft Update identifies this update it does not
re-download the update as it should. Instead, it tries to install the
previously downloaded incorrect one - and of course fails again.
I have read the posts here related to this KB and tried various things that
have been suggested, such as installing dotnetfx.
I have not tried uninstalling previously installed versions of .Net
Framework and don't intend to. I had done this for a previous FX update and
don't want to jump through these hoops for every FX update - particularly an
optional update like this one. Microsoft really needs to sort out their FX
versions and updates mess.
According to the Add/Remove Programs list I have:
-- .Net Compact Framework 2.0
-- .Net Framework (English) v1.0.3705
-- .Net Framework 1.1
-- .Net Framework 1.1 hotfix KB886903
-- .Net Framework 2.0 SP1
-- .Net Framework 3.0 SP1
-- .Net Framework 3.5 (Pre-Release Version)
Could .Net Framework 3.5 be the problem? Could it be preventing the
successful installation of this update?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
