Hi All,
Is there a way to remove the install/uninstall information to free disk
space?
What are the directories starting with ($) in Windows? Like
$NtUninstallKB282010$, $NtServicePackUninstall$ and so on?
Thanks, Reuven

I would not delete anything later then 10/18/05. You can also do this, if you
have system restore running, you may want to disable it, this will free alot
of space, then once it finishes deleteing the files restart it. I do not use
this feature so mine is disabled.
right click my computer, left properties, select the system restore tab and
put a checkmark next to turn off, click apply this will start the deletion
process, once complete uncheck, click apply then OK.
Another thing would be to run disk cleanup, start programs, accessories,
system tools, then disk cleanup. Beware this utility deletes compressed
files, this is usually the files you had mentioned and others, I would
UNCHECK the compressed files.

Good luck

Carey that link did not work.

Thanks for the article and system restore recommendations.
Now I am left in Windows directory with the directories:
$hf_mig$ - with directories inside like Kb834707
$MSI31Uninstall_KB893803$
$MSI31Uninstall_KB893803v2$

May I remove them?
Thanks, Reuven

Hi,

You should not touch the $hf_mig$ folder or anything inside it...
