free program

Vista4Experts is kind of a treat for computer experts who don't want
security center notifications, User Account Control dialogs, automatic
Windows Defender scannings, automatic update installations (which cause you
to reboot your system if you don't react quickly enough). People who want
MSDN (or google) set as default search engine in the Internet Explorer
search bar, who want the start menu power button to shut down the system
instead of hibernating it, etc. These and many more fixes are included in
Vista4Experts. All of these changes can be discarded, enabled or reversed.
Vista4Experts is the first expert utility of its kind and works on every
platform.

This is a free software and so it is given without warranties, this means
the use of this tool is at your own risk. I take no responsilbity for any
damage that may unintentionally be caused through its use.

True "experts" wouldn't have any need of such a product, now would they?

You must be downloading from the wrong website then.

Why would someone want to download and install something like this when you
can perform the actions yourself from within Windows?

Doesn't make sense to me.

Simple. Having all those settings in one place makes the job much easier
than
having to go into umpteen different windows and change settings in each one,
sometimes having to reboot after each change. Also, I don't know exactly
where
to find all of those settings without searching Google, MS Knowledge Base,
Help,
etc. Do you keep them all in your head?

Yes I do. For several years now. In all due respect, the above mentioned
settings are basically self-explanatory. The phrasing of the task itself
tells you where to look.
If you have no idea as to how to change these settings or where the settings
are located you have no business changing them.

I don't trust any software application, including those from Microsoft. I
let applications do only as much as I want them to do, provided I am able to
do so. I don't need software "calling home", or changing registry keys
without my knowledge. I don't need software changing my startup applications
or running activeX programs without my knowledge.

When I change a setting I know what I am changing. If you let a software
application do your work for you, without understanding everything that
application does, you are asking for trouble. I monitor all unknown changes
to my system files and memory and I allow nothing in or out of my firewall
without approval, either on a one-time or blanket basis.

I do respect your opinion. However, I would suggest you open Internet
Options and familiarize yourself with everything listed under all tabs.
Research all the items and educate yourself about their purposes. Read up on
all the Windows Services and their functions.

Don't let "maintenance" software do your work for you unless you fully
understand what it does and the ramifications. Don't let "tweak" software
attempt to do something your system is designed to do or not to do. Don't
let any software change your settings on a wholesale basis. Do these things
yourself. Once you do this you will then be able to know how to safely let
software do it for you.

As far as booting is concerned, I would rather properly reboot after each
setting change (if necessary) as opposed to holding off and rebooting several
changes at once. What services or files is the software stopping or closing
to allow you to change these settings all at once (without conflict) without
a reboot? Did the software change the boot sequence? Did the software add
some hidden control within the system?

Please don't be offended by my statements. If I have offended you please
accept my apologies. These statements, for the most part, are based upon
mistakes I made years ago. Negligence and/or lack of knowledge is one thing.
Failing to overcome it is another.

Have a nice day.

C.B.
