Hi

I recently downloaded a free trial version of some software I'm thinking of
buying. It has no file/save function. The trial period was 1 month but
expired before I had a chance to try it out properly.

I have tried to uninstall the program, then re-install, but it doesn't help.
I guess something is left behind in the registry.

Can anyone help me to understand how to re-install the trial please ?

Thanks

K

You should use something like Total Uninstall before installing any software. This program
takes a snapshot of your file system and registry before and after a program install.
Then you have a log of every file addition and registry change.
However, that won't help you now. To run your trial program within the 30 day time slot
use RunasDate. It will insert a date of your choice and then launch the program.

Did you even read the page describing what the program does? I'll bet you
didn't:
This was from their site. It looks like your solution will most likely not
work. It's best not to install this program.

Important Notice !!
I get many email messages that say something like "I tried to extend the
trial period of xyz software with RunAsDate and it didn't work". Running a
software with different date/time can be used for many legitimate purposes
and for these purposes RunAsDate was created. I have never said implicitly
or explicitly that RunAsDate can be used for extending the trial period of a
software. For some shareware programs, RunAsDate might really work, but many
shareware creators are smart enough to detect that the date/time was
modified and when they detect the time change, they end the trial period
immediately.
Please don't bother yourself to send me an email that extending the trial
period didn't work, because these kind of messages are simply deleted
without answering.

You may try your software in a virtual machine.

Hi, KRK.

WHICH free trial software? Or is that a secret? Was it recommended to you
by a trusted friend? Or did you stumble across it on the Web? Or did you
respond to a link in a SPAM message? Can you revisit the site where you
found it and investigate it further?

Perhaps someone here will recognize it and know its secrets.

Often, when we download "free" software from the Internet, we get more than
we bargained for. :>( Usually, viruses and other malware get onto our
computers because WE INVITE them. We don't "practice safe hex"!

Not all freeware is bad, of course, and I don't mean to tar it all with one
brush. Some of the best software I have was free from dedicated and
generous programmers. But if you don't even tell us the name, then we have
to be suspicious.
