When playing a game or surfing the web or downloading vista business locks up
or freezes. You cannot use alt ctrl or del. The only thing is to reset the
pc.

This could be caused by a lot of different things. You haven't given
enough information to get focused help. Please see this link for what
details you need to include about your computer in your next post:

This has been a problem with some USB drivers, much more prevalent in the
beta
releases of Vista. I have a Creative webcam that still causes this problem.
I removed
the webcam and driver and haven't had the problem. If you do have USB
devices,
you might want to check the manufacturer's web site for Vista drivers.

Good luck,

Ditto. My wife and I both run Vista on our laptops and they both consistently
freeze, regardless of the application we're running; Outlook, PowerPoint,
Explorer, it doesn't matter. Unfortunately, we were unable to buy XP anymore
when we bought our laptops ... I am SO dissappointed with Microsoft you have
no idea. A patch please!

Try looking for new video drivers,,,,,, these are notorious for causing
lockups and freezing. If no new one try to revert to an older one.
