Frequency of check by Windows update on Vista Home Preminum

I'm running Vista Home Premium with Windows Updates checked to just notify
me when any are available. It appears that WUC runs very frequently (at
least according to logs in Event Viewer).

Do I have any control over this?? Really don't see the need for it to check
more than once a day.
