I have run Windows XP professional for awhile now and then upgraded to Vista
Premium. Encountering lots of problems in terms of networking (that
previously existed) between my two laptops (both with vista) and some other
issues. There are also a number of "dead" links in areas like user account
controls and that sort of thing....any ways my main question is this....

Can I wipe my hard drive and put a new fresh install of Vista Premium only
using the "Upgrade" disc that I bought or does it rely on the previous
version I had..?

Hi Jafans,

You can only upgrade Win XP Pro to Vista Business, Ultimate or Enterprise
(if you have a suitable licence). All other versions of Vista need to be
clean-installed. If you follow the instructions in my post 'Clean Install
Windows Vista Using Upgrade Media' in the newsgroup 'Windows Vista
Installation and Setup', (dated 9/21/2007), you should be able to solve your
problem. In actual fact, regardless of the version of Vista that you have I
would recommend a clean install as opposed to an upgrade install.
