We have 3 domain controllers, in 3 different sites. We are in the process of
replacing one of them due to lack of space on the system partition. I noticed
that the FRS service is stopped and will not start due to the lack of free
space on the that server. We have setup a new domain controller to replace it
and it is ready to go. First we need to change a folder redirection policy
that points user folders to the old domain controller. When we modify the
folder redirection policy on one of the other domain controllers, we get an
access denied when we try to apply the changes. Security on the policy looks
good and the user we are using has permission to make the changes. We can
make other changes to that policy and it happens to be the default domain
policy. Just the folder redirection changes say access denied. Also noticed
errors in the event log for the same domain controller trying to make the
changes on, not the one with no space, application log event id's 1030 and
1058 for the past couple of months.
Ran dcdiag.exe, netdiag.exe and gpotool.exe. DCDIAG passed fine only stating
the error with the FRS service related to it not running on the older domain
controller. NETDIAG passed. GPOTOOL showed a few policy mismatches basically
showing the older domain controller had older versions of some of the GPO's.
Specifically the default domain policy.
Any help hear would be appreciated. Researched the event id's and nothing
really sticks. 2 of the 4 domain controllers have the latest patches for
Windows 2003 R2. The other 2 are Windows 2003 R2 SP1. I'm not sure where the
real issue is hear, if this discussion group is not the correct place for
this, I will repost with a better suggestion.
Thanks
