I am trying to use ftp from a windows host to another windows host. However,
when I invoked it, I found the target host using unix syntax for ftp even tho
it is a windows server, (which is why I kept getting syntax errors in my
batch file). Why does the receiving windows server ftp think its a unix and
how can I fix?
Thanks in advance

What command do you use? FTP.exe? It accepts both unix and windows commands.
If you get errors then you should post the exact command or script you use.

In addition to Pegasus' request, FTP under IIS can be configured to respond
with either Windows or Unix style responses. If the FTP host is not under
your control, you won't be able to change it. It may be better to look for
the version based on some generic response in your batch file so it knows
which commands to send based on the connected host.
