Full DVD version?

I have an OEM license for Vista premium and no media was provided for
backup or restore, I understand that Microsoft will send me a DVD if I
pay for shipping. Is the DVD a full copy? Can I boot from the DVD and
resize my partition?

We have to assume that you have bought a computer from Dell, HP, etc, with
Vista pre-installed.
You don't give any info!

Contact the seller as they have to provide you with a way to do an OS
Recovery, either by supplying a Vista OEM DVD, or telling you(in their
manual, software, or phone support) how to make Recovery disk from a
partition that they have placed on your Hard Drive.

It is nothing to do with Microsoft.

license I know have a recovery partition and I'm well aware of that and how
to use it. My question is STILL, will the DVD Microsoft provide me a full
bootable version?

MS usually will tell you to contact the OEM.

Microsoft will NOT provide you with a DVD.
It is the OEM computer Manufacturer's responsibility.

I apologize. I over reacted and I'm being a jerk.
This is what happened as far as the lisence goes.
The local computer store was having a sale as he was moving out west.That
was a few months ago as I finally have the time to work on my project.
I bought a nice little box with Vista pre installed for dirt cheap. I plan
on making it a gaming box after a few hardware upgrades (memory power supply
etc.)
There is of course no one to call as I have no idea where he is.
I called MS and they are sending a DVD for 7 bucks shipping.
I could have bought an OEM DVD on ebay for about 100 bucks but of course I'm
trying to avoid that. I hate not having a disc for the obvious reasons, in
case I mess up the upgrades and have to start from scratch.
That's my way to long story. I was trying to keep it short and wasn't very
clear.

understand your original question.

What you got from Microsoft, of course, was the disk, not the license. And
the license is the expensive part, not the small piece of special plastic.
Microsoft provides no support with the plastic. That comes with the
license.

I know you knew that, Jim, but some of those "reading over our shoulders"
might not.

Sounds like the OP just wants to know if he can boot from the
Microsoft supplied "retail version" DVD (I'm sure he can) and perform
certain recovery and configuration options, even though his installed
OS is an OEM version.
